Hitori de Unchi
This book was part of my latest Yesasia order. Because I have the sense of humor of an 8 year old, it just cracks me up

Still working on my Japanese, I think the title is I poop by myself, or maybe Poop Alone.

Nekono mike uun uun
The tortoiseshell cat says uun uun.
nanishiteiru no ka na
What is it you are doing?

oya! tottemo iiunchi
Ah! A very fine poop!
Then there are other pictures of a dog, a baby bird and a monster (the one on the cover). Last is a little girl

yatta ne!genkina unchi!
I did it! A healthy poop! (I love how the poop is flexing it's muscles)

Hi Donna,
I'm following my own advice and de-lurking. I think one of the best things about receiving comments is being led to new blogs as I always try and visit my commentor's blogs - that's how I came to you.
I've been so impressed with your learning Japanese. Can I ask how come you wanted to learn it and how do you find it? I lived in Tokyo from 85 - 87 and did manage to learn to speak and read some but I can't remember a thing now. Have thought about picking it up again but there's no-one in the sticks around here that teaches it. It's a beautiful lanaguage and I love the kanji characters.
Simmy--I started teaching myself Japanese almost two years ago. I homeschool my daughters and I thought it would be fun to tackle the basics of the language together. But as I begin studying more I really became intrigued with the challenge. There is so much available online now, it really has been a help to me. I will make a post of some of the more helpful websites, maybe they will be of use to you.

We have this same book for our son - it's hilarious, but at the same time it contains a serious point that poop does tell you something about your overall well-being. Like the 'genki' poop you show.
"The Wife" (okusan) is always berating me for the general health ignorance of the UK and this is a clear example to me of what she means about Japan being more aware of these things from a young age.
Well, that's what she tells me, but I just like the funny pictures.
Of course, if you want a video on the same topic, nothing beats Shimajiro

The title looks like "Can I poop by myself?" and the little poop seems to be congratulating the girl, saying, "You did it!" Just offering my 2 yen worth of input to your studies.
